Pottery that's fun!

Welcome to Hobson Creek Studios.

I am a retired civil servant who enjoys “playing in the mud.” I’m not sure if I never grew out of it or if I’m just regressing, but I sure enjoy it. I grew up in north Walker County, Georgia. I spent my elementary years in Rossville, Georgia; and my teenage years in Chattanooga Valley, Flintstone, Georgia. After graduating high school I moved to Atlanta. I started my civil servant career with the Fulton County Government.  I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia State University in the School of Urban Life / Land Development. I served one tour in the Navy and spent a year in Vietnam.

I always thought I would like to make pottery but never had the chance. I did not have art classes in school or college. Therefore, I have no formal training in art or pottery. In March of 2007, I retired as Public Works Director for a local county government and decided to follow my desire to make pottery. I started making hand-formed pottery bells in March, 2007, and threw my first piece on a potter’s wheel in August, 2007. I enjoy making fun pieces. My desire is that my pottery will put a smile on your face, will touch your heart or give you food for thought. I hope you enjoy my pottery as much as I enjoyed making it.
